Autecology of Capes hortensis - from Phoenix 69 [undated - assumed post-October 1969]
The work described in this account was carried out by a group of sixth-formers attending a course in ecology at the Leonard Wills Field Centre, Nettlecombe Court, Somerset, during May 1969. The course was directed by Mr. M. R. Litterick, B.Sc., assistant warden, whose Interesting lectures enabled this article to be written.
Capes hortensis is a species commonly known as the white-lipped garden snail, and is widespread In the area of Nettlecombe Court. The word autecology In this context refers to the scientific study of this particular species in relationship to different habitats.
